Giving it all away - and how!
I am asked regularly how I do what I do- so I felt an explanation is in order:
Jerry and I are both retired and living upon planned retirement funds just as every other retired couple does. I'd spend a lot of time on my computer regardless of other interests, but because Northcoast Greyhounds is a small business, I am able to deduct the cost of internet connection from my income taxes. Same with office supplies. And travel to events. And hotels and car rentals. And trips to Tucson to shop for jewelry, etc. etc. etc. Part of my home and all my greyt entertainment- paid from my own pocket but deductible from income taxes because we love greyhounds. Is that cool, or what??
The unique products offered here earn all the money I am able to contribute. Half of each purchase amount goes out the door as a contribution and the other half pays for its replacement. Fees for PayPal and credit card charges are also built in to the cost of each item. 100% of monies earned by eBay auctions benefit the group featured in those auctions- always rounded up to a reasonable contribution..
Admittedly, the number of product contributions I can make are limited. Considering the personal cost to go find them, the cost of each piece and the silver greyhounds which adorn them, and the time it takes to prepare the jewels for sale, giving stock away before it has the opportunity to earn deductible contributions would defeat the purpose. For tax reasons, I need to balance income with cash contributions and new product purchases.
Refund Raffles have made a positive difference in the amount I am able to contribute to groups since it's basically cash in - cash out to the beneficiary. The cost of the item offered, and all the PayPal and credit card fees are contributed by Northcoast Greyhounds.
So you see, Northcoast Greyhounds is not your usual vendor,
and we're not a 501(c)3 organization....
...rather, we're a "not-for-profit" enterprise contributing 100% of what we earn.
We're actually spending considerable personal funds to raise greyhound funds -
all with the payoff of providing purpose to our retirement.... and to our lives.
In the process, we have had the most wonderful companions and are making the most wonderful friends... isn't life greyt?!
There you have it- hope it makes sense to you!
Thanks for reading. Now, wouldn't you like to shop???
